Since 1956, BUNACO, of the Aomori region of Japan, has produced wonderful beechwood lighting, bowls and other objects. Large beechwood logs are shaved into sheets and then cut into flexible ribbons which are coiled and shaped into lampshades. This unique process produces little to no waste because there is no carving involved. The translucent beechwood emanates a warm red glow, revealing the grain of the wood. The BUNACO ethos and fine craftsmanship fits the aspirations of our day and age.
