Umpei Fude - Calligraphy Brush - Style C

Founded in Kyoto in 1615, Hankeido has produced handcrafted calligraphy brushes for more than 400 years. The workshop has remained in the Fujino family for generations, preserving traditional brush-making techniques that have been passed down continuously since the early Edo period.

Hankeido is one of the few workshops dedicated to preserving the rare techniques of paper-wrapped brush making, still crafted by hand using washi paper and methods that have changed little over the centuries.

Brush C is a brush primarily for writing kana on half-sheet paper. It is designed for beginners and is easy to use even for those just starting out.

Use clean running water to rinse the bristles after use. After rinsing, remove excess water by gently squeezing the bristles before reshaping and allowing to air dry. Please avoid getting the wooden shaft wet.
