Ibasen

Ibasen is a traditional company from Tokyo that was founded in 1590 by Ibaya Kanzaemon. Originally a supplier of paper and bamboo products to the Tokugawa shogunate, Ibasen began manufacturing fans in the late Edo period. The company collaborated with famous ukiyo-e artists such as Utagawa Toyokuni, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Utagawa Hiroshige to decorate fans with their woodblock prints. Today, Ibasen fans are not only functional objects but also works of art that are exhibited in renowned museums around the world.
