Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe between 1945 and 1951, the iconic Farnsworth House was commissioned by Dr. Edith Farnsworth as a serene modernist retreat, blending minimalist architecture with nature for relaxation, creativity, and reflection.
What Mies van der Rohe created is widely regarded as an architectural masterpiece and a defining icon of the International Style. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, the Farnsworth House was later designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006 and is currently owned and operated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Little Building Co’s model kit is crafted from Aspen, American Cherry, MDF, and acrylic, and includes a Black Maple tree that once stood beside the house, now lost; beautifully packaged with clear, easy-to-follow instructions, it makes an ideal gift for architecture enthusiasts or collectors alike.
Instructions included with the model are easy to follow stage by stage diagrams.
Glue is required but not supplied. Little Building Co. recommends a good quality PVA wood glue. There are a number to choose from and they typically dry clear, thats what you want. Some are specifically fast drying and the exterior grade normally dries faster than the exterior. The good thing about PVA is that you have time to reposition your parts if you mis-align them.
Material: Aspen, American Cherry, Black Maple, MDF and Acrylic. The kit includes the Black Maple tree which grew on the Farnsworth House property.
This model contains 100 parts.
This model takes one person approximately 12 hours to assemble.
