- The same flame can never be encountered again - Transience that will eventually disappear is beautiful. Unscented, only made with the natural materials. The flame produced by these candles creates the most beautiful color (warm and deep orange). It will add the peaceful atmosphere to your favorite relaxing moments. HAZE is a play on words, both the English word “haze” which means mist or obscurity, and also the Japanese word “haze” which means wax tree. Their philosophy cherishes the uncertain eventuality of disappearing and something that doesn't seem to exit yet it does deeply inside in our emotion at the same time.

HAZE is a warosoku (Japanese candle) maker based in Kawagoe, a city in Saitama prefecture. Using the ancient Japanese technique of “Tegake-seiho”, where wax is applied in sequential layers, HAZE's candles are entirely hand-crafted by skilled artisans. Their candles are made with its namesake plant, haze, the fruit of the Japanese wax tree. This natural material creates a powerful flame that produces very little soot. Haze wax is made in Fukuoka and Nagasaki, while the wicks are made in Nara. Following the traditional Japanese style, the production of the wick, wax and final candle is split into 3 parts.

SALT: The salt used in these candles is made by collecting seawater during high tide on the day of the full moon in Futamiura, Ise City. This special salt is also dedicated to the Ise Jingu Shrine, where it is believed that the ebb and flow of the tides reflect the human cycle of life and death. Therefore, the salt is considered to be a purifying agent and when used in a candle, it becomes a wish for purification and vitality.

HEMP: Rasen candle evokes harmony. Made with a mixture of hemp charcoal powder produced in Miyakojima of Okinawa Prefecture. Hemp has been considered a sacred plant in Japan since ancient times and is used in many rituals to clear heaviness in the air. You can feel the cleansing effects of the hemp charcoal, and this is why this candle is recommended for purification and relaxation.

ANICCA: Containing Indian incense in its wax, this candle cleanses areas for spatial tranquility. It is said that the lacquered incense originated from Indian ascetics applying the incense on their bodies to remove impurities. Rubbing one’s hands above the flame from this candle produces a similar experience.

SAGE: This Warosoku candle contains sacred herbs. These herbs have been used by Native American Indians in rituals and prayers since ancient times. The evaporated wax cleanses and purifies.

PLANT PIGMENT: Made wholly from plant-based materials from the wick to the wax and dye.

The RED candle's coloring comes from the Murasaki plant whose natural dye element is held in its roots, which creates a wisteria-like color. In 710CE , it was deemed an Imperial color due to the intense labor required to extract the element used for dying.

The ORANGE candle's coloring originates from Common Madder plant and the Pagodatree botanical. The former is celebrated for it red roots, used in dyes, and the latter for its late-summer blooms and medicinal properties.

The YELLOW candle's coloring comes from the Pagodatree’s unopened flower buds. These buds are highly prized for natural dyeing because they are rich in the pigments quercetin and rutin, which produce vibrant yellow and orange hues.

The GREEN candle's coloring comes from Green Tea, which is often used as a natural dye resulting in a pale or subtle olive-green hues.

The BLUE candle's coloring comes from indigo, a compound found in the Japanese Indigo plant, also known as Dyer’s Knotweed. This botanical is native to Japan and is commonly used in dying.
