Hazeʼs original artistic candles express the earth and it's seasonal colors through the medium of Warosoku.

Cypress by Vincent van Gogh 1889

An impressive feat of handmade candle making this set recreates the palette and feel of Van Gogh's 1889 work Cypresses. Haze's founder aspired originally to be a painter, and these candles express the memory of his first encounter with Van Gogh's masterpiece. The emotion and the expressive sense of life.

See You Tomorrow

Expressing the concept behind this design, Haze say rather than sayonara (goodbye), there is the happier chance to say mata ashita (see you tomorrow), and a sense of piece within these times that provides the inspiration for the bright colours of these candles.

Starry Sky

Warosoku depicting a starry sky with dying stars. A gradation Japanese candle depicting the starry sky of Shiva's journey to earth. This Japanese candle depicts an anecdote about the relationship between the Pleiades and Shiva as a mental picture.

The Pleiades Star Cluster

Are the 6 sparkles telling us of an opening of the spiritual world, I am on my way, Farewell the Pleiades. After creating mainly landscape motifs, the artist’s interest gradually shifted to celestial bodies and stars. It all began with the song “Subaru” by Shinji Tanimura. While working on the song, Tanimura had a strange experience in which the sentence “Farewell Pleiades” suddenly came to him. He realized that the lyrics were a message from the Pleiades star cluster. The artist was deeply attracted to this anecdote.

Haze

HAZE is a warosoku (Japanese candle) maker based in Kawagoe, a city in Saitama prefecture. Using the ancient Japanese technique of “Tegake-seiho”, where wax is applied in sequential layers, HAZE's candles are entirely hand-crafted by skilled artisans.
Candles are made with its namesake plant, haze, the fruit of the Japanese wax tree. This natural material creates a powerful flame that produces very little soot. Haze wax is made in Fukuoka and Nagasaki, while the wicks are made in Nara. Following the traditional Japanese style, the production of the wick, wax and final candle is split into 3 parts.
