Kay Bojesen - Medium Monkey
The first Monkey saw the light of day in 1951 – the same production continues to this day.
The wooden monkey is part of a collection of wooden animals created by designer Kay Bojesen between 1935 and 1957. On television, the Kay Bojesen monkey has served as a mascot for nature programs and has also been a regular prize on quiz shows. The design bible Wallpaper even made the cheeky little monkey the epitome of Danish Design in 2008. Together with Kay Bojesen's other wooden animals, the wooden monkey occupies the unique borderline between fantasy figure and design object. Full of soul, humor, craftsmanship and with a mischievous twinkle in his eye - and thus an appeal to the playful child in all of us.
