Working closely with his wife Tove Kindt-Larsen, architect Edvard Kindt-Larsen produced a very wide range of works. Over the years, the couple concentrated their creative efforts increasingly in the world of design. The common denominator in their work was a fine sense of quality and a talent for working in a recognised design idiom which very precisely matched the tastes of the day.
As a newly-qualified architect, Edvard Kindt-Larsen caused a sensation, designing a rather opulent Gold Medal project for an imposing hotel on the lakes in Copenhagen. He got himself noticed again at regular intervals, not least with his own house, built in Klampenborg in 1962.
Tove Kindt-Larsen trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Before her marriage to Edvard Kindt-Larsen, Tove had a passion for etching furniture designs. With their marriage in 1937 the couple embarked on a partnership that would bring them to the forefront as designers not only of furniture but also of silverware, jewellery and textiles and much more.
