Masahiro Mori (1927-2005), a Japanese ceramic designer from Saga Prefecture, revolutionized post-WWII Japanese tableware through his innovative designs, notably the "G-type Soy Sauce Bottle" designed in 1958 which won the 1st Good Design Award in 1960. Mori's designs, characterized by their suitability for the Japanese lifestyle and ability to merge traditional roots with imposed modernity, earned him over 110 Good Design Awards throughout his career. His collaboration with Hakusan since 1955 led to significant contributions to modern Japanese identity, making him one of the most influential figures in the design world, particularly noted for his philosophy of creating accessible, factory-produced items that enhance daily life.
