Toyama Homono - T1 Okubo Scissors
Hand-forged Japanese home and garden snips for use on paper to Bonsai and everything in between.
These hand-forged shears feature a keen, knife-like cutting edge, making them well suited for everything from cutting paper and pruning plants. Their lightweight, traditional Japanese-style design provides smooth, comfortable handling for a wide range of tasks.
The blades are made from YSS Shirogami, a high-purity carbon steel used in premium cutting tools. They are easy to sharpen and can be honed to a keen edge.
The black finish on the handles is created through a heat-treatment process in a dedicated furnace, without the use of conventional paint. This method preserves the natural character of the metal and gives each pair a distinctive, understated appearance.
Hand-Forged Craftsmanship: Each pair is carefully hand-forged for precision, balance, and long-lasting quality. Made from high quality YSS Shirogami carbon steel.
Versatile Use: For use on paper, tapes, threads and small and soft plants.
Care: Easy to maintain and sharpen.
Ease of Use: Lightweight and comfortable to handle.
Beautifully Finished: Blackened handles finished naturally and without paint, highlighting the natural character of the metal.
To Toyama Homono, a good edge is about how the blade enters the branch or stem, how smoothly it moves through the cut, and how much control the user feels in the hand. They pay close attention to balance, blade contact, and finishing. A good tool should cut cleanly and move smoothly, without asking for more force than it should.
Every pair of Toyama Hamono shears is finished by hand, one at a time. That means fine adjustments no factory line can replicate are possible — the way the blades meet, the smoothness of the pivot, the overall balance when you pick them up. These details may seem small, but are noticeable them the moment you make your first cut.
These tools are not meant to be replaced. With proper care, a pair of Toyama Homono shears will serve you for many years. And as the handle wears to the shape of your grip and the action settles into a familiar rhythm, the tool becomes uniquely yours. They believe that is part of what makes a good tool worth owning.
